Description
This is a simple interactive where students can play around with the different shapes available on the side panel to create larger shapes of various sizes and areas. Each shape is constructed using the isosceles, right-angled triangle D (as seen in the image) as the base shape. Through experimentation, students should be able to figure the exact ratios of the areas of the different shapes compared to one another.
The link to the simulation can be found here.
On the top panel is a simple game where students can assign the value of the area of shape A (the large yellow square), and can attempt to build a design whose area matches the other value specified. The objective of this interactive to help students understand the concept of fractions and ratios through basic geometry.
